Participate
There are many fun and easy ways to participate with Every
Child, Inc. to ensure that children have a safe, loving
and lasting family.
- Take part in our annual
benefit fundraiser, "Every Child Is Note Worthy."
Every Child’s annual benefit event was, once again,
held at Heinz Field East Club on September 8, 2006. At
our last event, two of the guests were Rookie of the Year
Ben Roethlisberger and
Super Bowl XL MVP Hines Ward.
This year, Casey Hampton
and some of the Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers
attended our event once again! We hope to see you there
next year!
Details are available on our Events
page.
- Your company can participate
in our annual fundraiser as a sponsor.
Corporate sponsors are an important part of making our
benefit a success. Call for more information on how to
become a benefit sponsor and/or auction gift donor. For
more information on any of our sponsorship opportunities,
please call Susan Davis at 412-665-0600.
- Help raise funds for Every
Child, Inc., a United Way Contributor Choice agency, at
your Workplace.
If your company participates in the United Way
campaign, we welcome an opportunity to speak to your co-workers
and employees about the needs of Every Child, Inc. The
spokesperson will provide information on how your United
Way donation aids Every Child's "Family Ever After
Fund." This fund helps us to quickly provide children
and families with services and resources not covered by
other funding sources. With your help, children and families
are better able to grow, learn, recuperate, stabilize
and benefit from an overall improved quality of life.
Every
Child's Contributor Choice number is 929345.
To schedule a speaker or find out more, contact Ann Posch
at 412-665-0600, or by e-mail at aposch@everychildinc.org.

Donate
Donations are a big help for the children and families
we serve. The following list contains a few suggestions
for donations that have been popular and successful in the
past. If you would like to organize your own donation drive
for Every Child, Inc., we welcome your ideas. We are also
happy to accept individual donations. Please call Ann Posch
at 412-665-0600 for more details or to schedule a pickup
of donated items.
- Holiday Gift Baskets for
Teens
Every Child, Inc. serves teens 12 thru 18 years old, and
these young people would appreciate thoughtful holiday
gifts. Contact us at the phone number above in the fall,
and we can give you specific gift suggestions according
to each teen's needs and interests.
- Winter Accessories for Children
and Teens
Every Child, Inc. kids need new hats, gloves, scarves,
socks, and other winter accessories to keep them bundled
during our Western Pennsylvania winters. All sizes are
needed and appreciated.
- Car Seats are a Greatly
Appreciated Donation
The car seats must be new and meet current U.S. Government
safety standards. Every Child's families need a complete
range of seats, from infant car seats to booster seats
for older children.
- Focus on Fitness
It’s important to establish fitness routines and
other healthy habits in children from a very young age.
In an effort to reinforce a healthy lifestyle, we’re
focusing on fitness and healthy eating. We’d love
to receive donation items that encourage active play and
healthy eating. To get you started, we suggest the following
ideas:
• Toys for outdoor activity: hula hoops, jump ropes,
Frisbees, kites, etc.
• Fill a sand bucket with a shovel, sidewalk chalk,
bubbles and other outdoor fun items.
• Children’s cookbooks that encourage eating
fruits and vegetables. And while you’re at it, how
about a child-sized apron for our little healthy chefs?
• Sporting goods: soccer balls, waffle ball sets,
basketballs, footballs, tennis rackets, badminton sets,
Nerf items, volleyball nets, and anything else that you
think would keep a child active and engaged.
Think about donating something that would have pleased
you as a child. What was your favorite backyard pastime?
What is your fondest childhood memory?
- Bag-A-Thon Items
Children and teens in foster care can use personal items
like duffel/sport bags and toiletries. If you would like
to organize a "Bag-A-Thon", please collect new
items in the following categories: sport/duffel bags,
journals, toothbrushes, combs/brushes, hair clips, shampoos,
lotions, and other toiletries.
- "Welcome Home Baby"
Gift-filled Laundry Baskets
Moms with special needs and their newborns receive doula
services from Every Child, Inc. Once the baby is born,
doulas greet the new mom and baby with a Welcome Home
Baby basket. Suggested items for donation include Ivory
Snow laundry detergent, crib sheets, sleepers, booties,
bottles, diapers, developmental toys, childcare book,
assorted baby wear and blankets.
(Every Child doulas offer individualized support to pregnant
women and teens who have a variety of disabilities and/or
special healthcare needs. Support lasts through pregnancy,
labor and delivery and until children are one-year-old.)
- Home Safety -- Keeping children
safe
Young children are inquisitive and often accident-prone.
With the proper preparation, a child’s home can
be set up to prevent injury. Unfortunately, many families
served by Every Child lack the necessary provisions to
keep their children safe and protected from a household
mishap. Families can always use safety gadgets such as
electrical outlet plugs, padded corners for coffee tables,
drawer locks, light-switch pull cords, oven knob locks,
stovetop burner locks, monitors, appliance locks, gates,
etc.
- Book Bags, Backpacks and
School Supplies
Children and teens, of the families we serve, can use
some help to make their educational experience a little
easier by being organized and prepared for school. The
families appreciate donations of book bags/backpacks and
school supplies year round.
- Art Supplies
Every Child’s two visiting rooms are ready for children
and their families to enjoy during supervised visits at
the office. We're stocking the rooms with art and craft
supplies and other interactive items so children and their
families can enjoy working on projects together. Activities
for all ages of children are needed.
- Cleaning Supplies
What family with young children can’t use cleaning
supplies? Many of our families can barely afford to put
food on the table, much less purchase brooms, mops, or
vacuum cleaners. Please donate your extra cleaning products.
Here are a few ideas:
• Fill a scrub bucket with Windex, 409, Spic &
Span, Soft-Scrub, Mr. Clean, Latex gloves, paper towels
and rags.
• Fill a laundry basket with laundry detergent,
dryer sheets or fabric softener, Stain Stick for spot
removing (a must if you have children!) and color-safe
bleach.
• Fill a dish draining rack with your favorite dishwashing
liquid, Brillo pads, sink cleanser, kitchen sponges, wash
cloths & towels.
- Gift Cards are Especially
Appreciated by Teens
The next time that you're at Target, Wal-Mart or a similar
store, think about buying a gift card. You can just drop
it in mail to Ann Posch with a note, and it gives the
teens their choice of gift, whether it's for the holidays,
a birthday or for items they need all year long.

Sponsor
Sponsorship of Every Child, Inc. families and events is
a crucial role. We're so pleased that members of the community
and businesses can step forward to support our families
in their goal of permanency. Here are a few of the ways
you can help:
- Thanksgiving Dinner
Help our neediest families enjoy a happy Thanksgiving.
Call Ann Posch for more information on how you can help,
either by donating a frozen turkey with all the trimmings,
or by giving a donation of $50 in cash or grocery store
gift cards. We'll package the food and deliver the dinners
before Thanksgiving.
- Christmas Food and/or Toy
Drive
Would your coworkers donate food or toys to benefit the
children and families we serve? This is an easy way to
help Every Child, Inc. families with the goodwill found
in so many workplaces in our area. Call for more information
on how to organize a 'drive' at your workplace, for a
flyer to promote the event, and for key dates of when
donated items can be picked up or delivered to Every Child,
Inc.
- Annual Appreciation Day
at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium
After only eight years, we have over 700 families that
regularly attend this event! Your donation can help greatly
by allowing us to show our appreciation for the families
we serve, our donors, and our volunteers. Call for more
information about this annual event, and how you and your
company can assist with a donation or by volunteering
your time to help with lunch or the children's activities.
